Awa Awa Shibori

暮らし身近なプロダクトやテキスタイルと藍染め、絞りを組み合わせる制作に挑戦した。

 

藍が建つと、表面にぶくぶくとしたのがAwa Awa Shibori。平面の生地を針1本で縫い、しっかりと絞め、糸を解かずに染めることで初めて現れる形。​見つめるたび、手に触れるたびに心地良さをもたらしてくれる。また天然染料の藍は使うごとに自分だけの色に変化していくため、育てていくような感覚も楽しんでほしい。

 

When the indigo is fermented, bubbles rise to the surface. This is called ‘indigo flower’, and Awa Awa Shibori expresses this appearance. It only appears when the flat fabric is stitched with a single needle, tightly wrung and dyed without unravelling the thread. Every time you look at it or touch it, the fabric gives comfort to the customer. The natural dye indigo changes over time as it is used, so please enjoy the sensation of nurturing it.
